We can not ship items from Del Rio, TX (Warehouse 30) via USPS.

Quotes

  • Ask if the receiver has a loading dock and if they need a lift gate. Note that lift gate service and inside delivery will be billed in addition to the LTL quote.
  • Find out if the receiver's location is residential...oftentimes, truck shipments cannot be delivered to residential addresses.
  • Always give the customer the shipping quote number and advise them to include it on their PO with the shipping method/carrier & estimate amount.
  • Advise customers that shipping quotes are estimates.
  • Shipping quotes are valid for 30 days.
  • Shipments via a freight truck do not have a guaranteed delivery (unless you ship FedEx Freight Priority).

  • When adding inside delivery and lift gate services to truck quotes, please be advised that transit times will not be guaranteed, especially via FedEx Freight or FedEx National. Added services and special equipment void the guaranteed transit times for all trucking companies. This is also the case for appointment required and non-commercial deliveries (schools, churches, golf courses, etc).

All orders that have a shipping quote must have the shipping method noted when sending to Order Entry.

Shipments are either Prepay, Collect or Third Party

Prepay - Are shipped using Hit's account number and the charges are added to the customer's invoice.

Collect - Order ships on end user's account number. End user is responsible for freight charges.

Third Party - Order ships on an account number that is neither the shipper no the end user's account number, usually our customer's (jobber) account.

The traveler should specify what ship method we are using in order to be billed correctly. It is most important on UPS shipments. Each order (even sample orders) requires the 3rd party billing address. (not just the zip code)

ALL expedited shipping MUST have a supervisor's signature on the traveler or the Billing Department will charge the customer the rate on the FedEx label (any credits this creates will be put against the representative – no exceptions)

When a PO comes in and there is a shipper number to be used, please highlight the shipper number on the PO then make a top note and indicate whether this is the jobber or end-user's shipper number. This is needed by the shipping department to ensure the order is processed correctly. If you come across an order that was invoiced for freight and AS400 indicates a 3rd party shipper, please contact Debbie Beetem so she can correct this.

Dimensional Weight

Dimenional weight is calculated by FedEx and UPS to determine the shipping weight. This is used for oversized cartons. This is calculated by multiplying the Width X Height X Length of the carton and dividing by 166. The heavier of the weights (actual or dimensional) result is the weight that UPS or FedEx uses as the shipping weight.

FedEx

DHL

We only ship DHL if the customer provides us with their shipper number.

  • DHL no longer offers domestic shipping, only international air shipments are available.
  • DHL Express is the only service option – transit time depends on the country that it is shipping to.
  • All DHL shipments need to be in shipping no later than 3:00 pm for them to ship same day. DHL requires a 2 hour pick up window, and they stop picking up at 5:00 pm, so they need to be scheduled no later than 3:00 pm and must be in shipping at that time as DHL could pick up within minutes of the pick up call. We cannot call them at 3:00 pm and tell them it will be ready at 4:30 pm.
